The PACS Administrator is responsible for developing, planning, implementing, monitoring, and maintaining day-to-day operations of the Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) and RIS System. The role of the PACS Administrator is to plan, execute, and finalize projects according to strict deadlines and within budget. This includes acquiring resources and coordinating the efforts of team members and third-party contractors or consultants in order to deliver projects according to plan. The PACS Administrator will also define the project’s objectives and oversee quality control throughout its life cycle.


  • Monitor PACS images for accuracy and integrity, resolving unspecified images or images needing merging, assigning reports with matching images, archiving, auto-routing/auto-fetching, and other related activities.
  • Manages and reviews system utilization and error reports.
  • Build, deploy, replace and or troubleshoot, resolve workstation issues.
  • Provide maintenance of users and user profiles.
  • Manage and monitor the integration and list of study-related items between PACS and the Radiology Information System (RIS).
  • Expected to be responsible for the day-to-day technical administration of the PACS, RIS and Radiology Voice Recognition Dictation System.
  • Diagnose, analyze, and troubleshoot technical problems to resolve problems. Define project scope, goals and deliverables that support business goals in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders.
  • Liaise with project stakeholders on an ongoing basis.
  • Expected to set and continually manage project expectations with team members and other stakeholders.
  • Plan and schedule project timelines and milestones using appropriate tools.
  • Develop and deliver progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation, and presentations.
  • Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential crises, and devise contingency plans.
  • Assists in the development and execution of systems test plans; maintains test database and test documentation. Analyzes, designs, builds and tests programs, enhancements of applications.
  • Documents technology functions, as well as functional and technical specifications, ongoing use, maintenance and integration of applications.
  • Analyzes production problems and identifies solutions/changes wherever necessary.
  • Works with application vendors/other outside resources to secure necessary changes.
  • Sustains good knowledge of changing technologies, languages and development tools.


  • 5 years experience with medium to large scale PACS in the capacity of PACS administrator
  • INFINITT experience preferred



  • Certified Imaging Informatics Professional (CIIP) or Certified PACS Systems Analyst (CPSA) preferred.
